Nature’s Lessons: A Reflective Walk in Bwindi Forest

“Pass through this brief patch of time in harmony with nature and come to your final place gracefully, just as a ripened olive might drop, praising the earth that nourished it and grateful to the tree that gave it growth” Marcus Aurelius

I took this picture during a forest walk in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Bwindi Forest is renowned for its rare species of birds and butterflies. It is famous for its biodiversity and is also the home to half the world’s mountain gorillas. On a nature walk through this forest that pulsates with life, I listened to the tweeting of the birds. I heard the sound of the breeze through the leaves. I breathed in the crisp, clean air. I reflected on the fleeting nature of life but also its fullness. I also reflected on lessons that this beautiful earth provides us with every day. I felt grateful for the earth from which these trees grow. The earth nourishes the trees, and the leaves and fruit from the trees nourish the earth. It can also be said for the animal species and the vegetation. I always experience a profound appreciation for this cycle. I fully appreciate what Marcus Aurelius meant in the quote above.
